Jim McKay
Public Policy Director
As Public Policy Director for Children’s Trust Fund Alliance, Jim represents the Alliance as a member of the National Child Abuse Coalition and the National Home Visiting Coalition. Jim is also the Director of the West Virginia Children’s Trust Fund and leads Prevent Child Abuse West Virginia, a project of TEAM for West Virginia Children.
Jim has a long history of helping to establish and lead various initiatives including Our Babies: Safe and Sound, Circle of Parents West Virginia, the West Virginia ACEs Coalition, the West Virginia State Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children and the West Virginia Legislative Action Team for Children and Families.
Jim has helped draft and successfully advocated for the enactment of legislation and state policies in West Virginia. He is the recipient of many awards for his efforts to promote policies in West Virginia that support children and their families.
Previously, Jim was director of a crisis shelter for runaway and homeless youth for five years and was program director for the West Virginia Education Alliance, a statewide nonprofit promoting private support for public education, from 1994–2000. Jim served as Legislative Assistant to the Speaker of the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1991–1994.
Jim received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Tennessee Tech University in 1991. Jim’s proudest achievement is being father to his sons, Jake and Jonah.
